One of the core affirmations of Reiki Practitioners is, “May I learn my lessons quickly and gently and help others do so as well.” The Universe continues to provide opportunities to practice what I preach multiple times a day. Here’s the latest reminder on trusting and following your energy.
Over the past couple months, I’ve continued to implement the re-branding of my practice through my many Social Media platforms. During the first 11 months after I first launched my coaching site, what began as a very simple web presence, had grown and expanded to be quite robust and a bit too complex.
When I, the chief architect of the site, began finding it difficult to remember where I’d put specific content and found myself having to hunt for it on my own site, I knew it was time for some overall synthesizing and streamlining. The most logical and efficient approach was clearly to combine the desired revamping with the overall re-branding, while also creating more prominence for blog, newsletter, book, radio show and signature programs at the same time. Though that strategy made sense, every time I thought about the downstream implications of tinkering with all the highly interconnected bits and pieces, I’d begin hyperventilating at the sheer magnitude of what was before me.
So, I drank my own Kool-Aid. I didn’t force myself to do anything before I felt ready. I respected my intuition in the form of my energy for the project and set my intention to open myself wide to knowing what the best approach would be—content, design, flow and timing. Then I let the project simmer on the back burner while I kept moving forward in other areas of my life. I checked back in occasionally, took the lid off the stockpot, gave it a stir and a taste, adjusted the seasoning, put the lid back on and went about my other business. Many, many other projects were started and completed during those few weeks. All the while, the web revamp stew kept simmering, becoming richer and more flavorful every moment. Bubbling away, preparing for its perfect time.
Then one morning I awoke and knew the stew was ready. I removed the lid and asked one of my favorite questions, “What if this is going to be much easier than I think?” Having opened the door to that delightful possibility, I immediately anchored it more deeply as an affirmation. “This web revamp is going to be easy, fast and fun. Effortless. Joyful. Creative. Rewarding. Just what my coaching practice needs to help it grow in new directions and touch more lives in support of the Highest Good for all.”
And, guess what? That’s exactly how it went. Remembering that early success always fosters flow, I started with the part I knew would be simple. That positive fuel helped me continue to flow right on into the more complex elements, one page, one feature, one graphic, one sentence, one word at a time. By the end of two days, I had reworked the entire site. I put it aside and slept on it—the creative equivalent of putting the cooked stew in the refrigerator overnight because the flavors will become even richer by resting. The following morning, I awoke energized and with a fresh perspective. I invested an additional half day tweaking bits and pieces, adding things I’d forgotten and then launched it all into the Universe.
I love the result and trust you will too. I’m always happy to receive encouragement and suggestions for improvement, so please email me with any ideas or thoughts you may wish to share.
Remember, whatever you have before you, if you can believe it and begin it, you can achieve it. In the words of country singer/songwriter, Kathy Mattea, “Spread your wings, close your eyes and always trust your cape!”
